LESSON I - INTERNET RESEARCH

 

Learning Objective: Students will use the Internet to

research a piece of African art in order to create

their own interpretation in writing, art and

technology.

 

Task

1) Students will go to www.yahooligans.com  and type in

African art.

Students can select any of the appropriate websites.  Highlights

include:

 

a. Smithsonian National Museum of African Art - look

at exhibits of paintings and sculptures by African

artists.

b. Ethnographica African Art - explore the tribal

arts of Africa and the great tradition of carpets and

textiles. Includes maps and examples of the works.

c. DuSable Museum of African-American History - get

info on this Chicago museum and see some online

exhibits showcasing the historical experiences and

achievements of African-Americans.

2) Students will pick a piece of artwork that they

found interesting.

 

3) Students will "bookmark" the web page that the

artwork is on allowing them to refer back to the

artwork.
