THE ESL GAZETTE EXPRESS

GRADE: 9th and 10th graders, ESL mid-beginner level

This project will help students understand the newspaper writing process. The main purpose of this project is to get students motivated to write their own classroom newspaper by working together as both reporters and editors. The use of technology will enable them to develop their research on a particular topic in order to produce their final product: The ESL GAZETTE EXPRESS.

Lesson 1: How can students report school news?

Lesson 2: What school related topics can we brainstorm to include in our ESL Gazette Express?

Lesson 3: How can the Internet help us to research the information for our news articles?

Lesson 4: How can we organize a well-written news article?

Lesson 5 : What does an editor look for when editing a newspaper article?

Lesson 6 : How can we create a layout for our newspaper?
