INDONESIAN MUSIC
The traditional Indonesian orchestra is called a Gamelan
Gamelan
is also the melodious Indonesian music produced by an orchestra of gongs. The
word "gamelan" actually translates as "to hit with a hammer."
In
this type of music, gongs of many shapes and sizes are played together
accompanied by two-sided drums, flutes and stringed instruments.
Gamelan
music is used to accompany traditional court and folk dances as well as puppet
