Aim: What can we learn about China’s geography from a map?

                                            
Materials: Print out a copy of China Map Printout

Motivation:

          Why? 

Follow the directions and use very light colors so you can see the map.


1. Color the Himalaya Mountain Range green and brown. Draw one big mountain underneath the Tibetan Plateau and label it Mount Everest.  Then draw smaller mountains around it and label it the Himalaya Mountain Range, .
2. Color in the Gobi Desert tan.
3. Color in the Plateau of Tibet red.
4. Trace the Yangtze River in dark blue.
5. Trace the Yellow River in bright yellow.
6. Trace the Great Wall of China in purple.

Look at your map to answer the following questions:
1. What ocean borders China on the east?

2. What sea is on China's southeast border?

3. What river flows by Shanghai?

4. Which major river crosses the Great Wall?

5. In which part of China is its capital, Beijing: NE, NW, SE, or SW?
